Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP): The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command is soliciting
original research proposals, to include but not limited to, studies related to Parkinson's disease and neurodegenerative processes
resulting from environmental or neurotoxic insults that:
- Identify physiologic, pharmacologic, or molecular mechanisms underlying biologic progression of Parkinson's disease
- Identify mechanisms of co-morbidities of Parkinson's disease in the central nervous system and other organ systems
- Identify standard compensatory mechanisms resulting from alterations in catecholamine metabolism in Parkinson's disease and
associated functional outcomes
- Identify mechanisms underlying dyskinesia development during traditional therapy
- Identify toxin specific alterations to dopaminergic synaptic plasticity
- Identify specific glial mechanisms in altering dopaminergic neuronal metabolism or function
