Michelle Hooth, Ph.D., is a toxicologist in the Toxicology Branch. Her primary responsibilities include designing animal studies to evaluate the toxicity and carcinogenicity of chemicals selected by the National Toxicology Program and the evaluation and interpretation of toxicity and carcinogenicity data for publication as NTP technical reports and papers in scientific journals. Hooth manages several chemicals including compounds that are used in consumer products and food, as chemical intermediates and that occur as environmental contaminants. She has a particular interest in drinking water contaminants.

Hooth received a B.S. in biological sciences from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan and a Ph.D. in toxicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed postdoctoral work at the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
