Welcome to BMC Medical Research Methodology published by BioMed Central
BMC Medical Research Methodology is an open access journal publishing original peer-reviewed research articles in methodological approaches to healthcare research. Articles on the methodology of epidemiological research, clinical trials and meta-analysis/systematic review are particularly encouraged, as are empirical studies of the associations between choice of methodology and study outcomes. BMC Medical Research Methodology does not aim to publish articles describing scientific methods or techniques: these should be directed to the BMC journal covering the relevant biomedical subject area. BMC Medical Research Methodology (ISSN 1471-2288) is indexed/tracked/covered by PubMed, MEDLINE, CAS, Scopus, EMBASE, Current Contents, Thomson Reuters (ISI) and Google Scholar.

BMC  Featured articles

BMC Medical Research Methodology 2009, 9:7
Of the different approaches to estimate attributable fractions, average attributable fractions derived from logistic regression provide the most reasonable estimates of the population impact of specific risk factors and should be reported to supplement unadjusted estimates.
BMC Medical Research Methodology 2008, 8:79
While the heterogeneity statistic I^2 increases with the studies' sample size, tau^2 measures the clinical relevance of any heterogeneity, and is a more appropriate tool for deciding whether to pool treatment estimates in a meta-analysis.
BMC Medical Research Methodology 2008, 8:65
A novel randomization tool runs allocation-concealed block randomization for cluster randomized trials and minimizes imbalances between treatment groups across multiple baseline covariates.
