Biography

Dr. Kwong graduated with honors from Amherst College and received his M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed Surgical Internship and General Surgery Residency at the George Washington University Medical Center and his research fellowship at Barnes Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He then completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery residency at the University of Miami Hospitals.

Following his surgical training, Dr. Kwong was recruited to the full-time faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was active in both clinical and translational research of thoracic cancers until joining the Thoracic Oncology Section at the NCI. He is an elected fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of CALGB, ACOSOG, ASCO, ACS, IASLC, and AACR. Dr. Kwong is board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery.
