Biographical Sketch: Rochelle M. Long, Ph.D.

Dr. Long is chief of the Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences Branch in the NIGMS Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry.  In this position, she oversees the administration of research and training grants in pharmacology and has expertise in the areas of receptor pharmacology, signal transduction, drug metabolism, pharmacogenetics, pharmacokinetics, drug delivery, and drug bioavailability. She currently serves as the program director for the Pharmacogenetics Research Network and Knowledge Base, a nationwide collaboration of scientists focused on understanding how genes affect the way individuals respond to medicines.

Prior to joining NIH, Long served on the faculty in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
