Biographical Sketch: James Anderson, Ph.D.

As a program director at NIGMS, Dr. Anderson has fostered the development of bacterial informatics, including the establishment of an online genomic resource for the E. coli K12 bacterium. He has promoted the adoption of systems biology approaches to cell and molecular biology. Currently, he is the administrative director for the Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study (MIDAS) project and several NIGMS Centers for Systems Biology.  He also administers grants on the genetics of physiological adaptation and is the NIGMS contact person for Arabidopsis thaliana and E. coli genetic and genomic resources. Prior to joining NIGMS in 1990, Dr. Anderson led research teams in the biotechnology industry.
