August 6 and 7, 2002, Durham, NCResearch WorkshopWhile cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of death in industrialized countries, the factors, and their mechanisms, that cause these diseases are not completely understood. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers in cardiovascular disease, environmental health science, and epidemiology to look at how environmental agents contribute to this major public health problem. Participants will discuss such issues as the contribution of environmental agents to vascular and cardiac disease, cardiovascular toxicity of particulate matter, the role of oxidative stress in environmentally related cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular developmental toxicology.
