Congressman Mica is also assisting the Putnam County officials construct a regional wastewater system which will improve service in areas where failing septic tanks weaken ecologically sensitive territories, particularly the St. Johns River.

     Currently certain areas of Putnam County are undergoing severe stormwater and septic tank inadequacies.  The quality of surface water in the eastern region of the county has been adversely affected by poor water infrastructure.  Putnam County has already secured a $1.5 million grant from the State of Florida to begin this wastewater project.
