I-4 Frontage Road in Volusia County

To alleviate traffic conditions in the DeLand-Orange City corridor on both US 17/92 and I-4, preliminary approval has been granted for a new connector that would run parallel with I-4 and extend from SR 472 to SR 44.  This new roadway would connect the intersections of SR 472, Orange Camp Rd. and SR 44.  This would greatly reduce the need for local traffic to use I-4 when travelling on these roads.  In July 2005, Rep. Mica secured $1.6 million to expedite the construction of this important project.

Work is also currently underway on Rep. Mica's plan to build auxiliary lanes, which will provide temporary traffic relief along I-4 until the final widening is complete.
