Drugs Commonly Used for Treating Ovarian Cancer

Chemotherapy for epithelial tumors

Melphalan (alone as primary adjuvant treatment)
Taxol
Ifosfamide (for recurrence)
Hexamethylmelamine (for recurrence)

Combinations

CAP (cytoxan, adriamycin, cisplatin)
CP (cytoxan and cisplatin)
CC (cytoxan and carboplatin)
H-CAP or CHAD (hexamethylmelamine, cytoxan, adriamycin, cisplatin)
AP (adriamycin and cisplatin)
HEXA-CAF (hexamethylmelamine, cytoxan, methotrexate, 5-FU)

Chemotherapy for germ cell tumors

VAC (vincristine, dactinomycin, cytoxan)
BEP (cisplatin, etoposide, bleomycin)
BVP (cisplatin, vinblastine and bleomycin)
VPP (etoposide and cisplatin)

Hormomes

Tamoxifen (for recurrence)

Biological Response Modifiers

Autologous bone marrow transplant is under clinical evaluation as an adjunct to high dose chemotherapy.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy for epithelial ovarian cancers is reserved for treatment of metastases.

For germ cell tumors, prophylactic irradiation to the mediastinal and supraclavicular lymph nodes may be considered. Radioactive phosphorus (P32) can control ascites but causes adhesions and bowel complications.
