WASHINGTON – Congressman Dennis Cardoza (D-Merced) has received the “Friend of the Farm Bureau” award from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and the California Farm Bureau Federation (CFBF) for his work in Congress on behalf of the agriculture community.

“I want to thank the American Farm Bureau, California Farm Bureau and all of my county Farm Bureaus for this honor,” said Cardoza. “It is critically important that we support the agriculture industry in today’s increasingly competitive global marketplace. I look forward to continuing my work at home and in Washington, DC on behalf of Central Valley farmers.”

The award is based on voting records on priority issues established by the AFBF Board of Directors, the number of bills that a member has sponsored and co-sponsored, the member’s leadership on priority issues, and how accessible and responsive the member is to Farm Bureau members and leaders.

“Representative Cardoza is always accessible, he listens to our concerns and works hard to find solutions. We’re proud to honor him and call him a ‘Friend of Farm Bureau.’”

Doug Mosebar

President

California Farm Bureau Federation

"Congressman Dennis Cardoza has been a strong advocate for agriculture in California and the Northern San Joaquin Valley.  From his work on water issues, to specialty crop legislation and the passage of a bill to improve the Endangered Species Act, it is clear that Congressman Cardoza cares about our family farmers and ranchers."

Bruce Blodgett

Executive Director

San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation

"Representative Cardoza has been a strong and effective advocate for California Agriculture. He understands the needs of agriculture in his district whether it’s dairy legislation, support for specialty crops, or tax or resources issues.”

Wayne Zipser, Executive Manager

Stanislaus County Farm Bureau

“Congressman Cardoza has been a great friend and ally of Merced County agriculture. In Congress, he has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the issues important to local farmers and agriculture producers.
