Gene Resequencing

TARGET is employing advanced and complementary analysis technologies, such as microarray expression analysis and whole genome association scanning, to strategically characterize genomic changes involved in childhood cancers. By combining these techniques, TARGET will identify those genes that are either altered in their expression level or mapped to the chromosome regions of deletion/amplification, as these genes represent strong candidates for therapeutic targeting. Genes of interest identified by TARGET's gene expression and genomic characterization efforts will undergo high-throughput sequencing.

The traces for all sequencing will be deposited into the National Center for Biotechnology Information trace file database as well as the project database that will be accessible via the TARGET website.
