International Union Against Cancer World Cancer Declaration 2008

At the World Cancer Congress in July 2006, the global cancer community launched the first International Union Against Cancer (UICC) World Cancer Declaration, which outlines the steps needed to begin to reverse the global cancer crisis by 2020. This Declaration also serves as a tool to help raise awareness about cancer, galvanize political leadership, and develop practical strategies. It represents a consensus between foundations, national and international nongovernmental and governmental organizations, professional bodies, the private sector, and academia and civil society from all continents that are committed to the vision of eliminating cancer as a major threat for future generations.
