U.S. - Japan Cooperative Cancer Research Program

Since 1974, to advance international cooperation in cancer research, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) have engaged in the United States-Japan Cooperative Cancer Research Program (USJCCRP). USJCCRP recognizes the value of supporting scientific workshops and meetings that are relevant to the scientific mission and public health of the U.S. and Japan. USJCCRP workshops focus on basic, clinical or epidemiological/behavioral science to support advances in cancer research and clinical care. Workshops allow for the exchange and dissemination of information or to explore or clarify a defined subject, question, or area of knowledge. USJCCRP aims to create networks among researchers and institutions, and promote women and young researchers' active participation in cancer research.

For more information on call for proposal for 2008, visit USJCCRP.

Recent research workshops have been held on the following topics:
  • Cancer Immunosurveillance and Cancer Vaccine Clinical Trials (Sapporo, Japan)
  • Biological and Structural Studies on Non-Covalent Interactions between Novel Platinum Anticancer Drugs and Bio-Molecules (Osaka, Japan)
  • Animal Models for Hematological Malignancies and Hematopoiesis (Maui, Hawaii)
  • Error-Prone DNA Polymerases in Mutagenesis and Carcinogenesis (Maui, Hawaii)
