Casefinding
The Module Goal
Users of this module will learn some basic knowledge
about casefinding in cancer registration.
Module Level Instructional
Objectives
After completing the content of the module, the users
of the module will be able to:
- briefly describe the cycle of casefinding;
- name different types of casefinding;
- list the casefinding sources introduced in this training
module;
- describe the special role of a suspense file in linking
identified cases; and
- name several quality control procedures used in casefinding.
Unit One: Introduction to Casefinding
Unit Goal
Users will be introduced to casefinding as an important
process, along with some related issues, in cancer registration.
Objectives
After completing this unit, users will be able to:
-
define the concept of casefinding;
- describe casefinding cycle;
- name the cancer registries involved in casefinding;and
- relate who decides what cases to be recorded in casefinding.
Unit Two: Types of Casefinding
Unit Goal
Users will learn several casefinding methods.
Objectives
After completing this unit, users will be able to:
- list the three casefinding methods introduced in this
unit;
- describe how each method works;
- relate advantages and disadvantages of each method of
casefinding; and
- determine which method should be used depending on certain
circumstances.
Unit Three: Casefinding Sources
Unit Goal
Users will be introduced to some major casefinding sources.
Objectives
After completing this unit, users will be able to:
- list all the sources of casefinding mentioned in this
unit and briefly describe how to utilize them.
Unit Four: Suspense File
Unit Goal
Users will learn what suspense file is and how to work
with it.
Objectives
After completing this unit, users will be able to:
- mention three possibilities of handling an identified
cancer case;
- describe how a suspense file is maintained.
Unit Five: Quality Control
Unit Goal
Users will learn the importance of quality control and
how it is achieved in casefinding.
Objectives
After completing this unit, the users will be able to:
- explain why quality control is important in casefinding;and
- name several procedures used in quality control in casefinding.
