There is no way to tell whether the header is suitable your purpose as your post indicate that you are only interested in the imaging data, not the header. What I can say is to trust the nifticlib to extract the imaging data correctly. But if you really want to check, you should compare the data from vox_offset onwards in your nii file with the img file from the start. If you do, you will find that it is identical.
