Northwest Native American Patient Navigation Pilot Program (NW PNP)
In September 2002, through an Interagency Agreement with the Portland Area Indian Health Service, and in collaboration with the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, the CRCHD implemented a pilot program to evaluate the effectiveness of using Patient Navigators among American Indians to improve timeliness of cancer diagnosis and access to standard cancer care. The long-term goal of the NW PNP is to examine the efficacy of Patient Navigation as an intervention to reduce cancer health disparities among American Indian populations.
