Reports on Cancer

• SEER Cancer Statistics Review (CSR) is an annual report which includes incidence, mortality, survival, prevalence, and lifetime risk statistics. The most recent report includes statistics from 1975 through 2005, the most recent year for which data are available.
• Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer, 1975-2005 provides an update on the trends in cancer incidence (new cases reported) and death rates in the United States. The current report, published in November 2008, contains a special feature on trends in lung cancer, tobacco use and tobacco control..
• US Cancer Statistics, 2004 Incidence & Mortality, produced jointly by the NCI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), provides state-specific and regional data for cancer cases diagnosed in 2004.
• SEER Survival Monograph: Cancer Survival Among Adults: US SEER Program examines cancer survival by patient and tumor characteristics for over 1.6 million adult cancers diagnosed during the period 1988-2001 within the NCI’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program.
• New Malignancies Among Cancer Survivors: SEER Cancer Registries, 1973-2000 reports on the risk of new malignancies that have arisen among more than 2 million SEER cancer survivors for the period 1973 to 2000. Risks of subsequent cancers are evaluated for more than 50 adult and 18 childhood tumors, by gender, age at diagnosis of the initial cancer, and time since diagnosis, as well as the initial treatment and histologic type of certain cancers.
• Cancer Epidemiology in Older Adolescents and Young Adults 15 to 29 Years of Age presents detailed information about cancer incidence and outcomes in adolescents and young adults. It was developed to gather population-based incidence, mortality, and survival data specific to cancers that occur in this population, along with epidemiological data and risk factors for the development of age-specific cancers
• Cancer Incidence in Four Middle Eastern Countries (Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, and Jordan) presents information about cancer incidence for populations of the four countries for the period 1996-2001, and compares the findings with those from the US SEER Program.
• Methods for Measuring Cancer Disparities: A Review Using Data Relevant to Healthy People 2010 Cancer-Related Objectives raises some conceptual issues and reviews different methodological approaches germane to measuring progress toward the goal of eliminating cancer-related health disparities .
• Cancer in Women of Color Monograph is a comprehensive source of data on cancer in nine populations of women of color: African Americans, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, American Samoans, American Indians, and Alaska Natives.
• Cancer Trends Progress Report Web site provides up-to-date information on topics across the cancer continuum—from disease prevention to the impact of deaths from cancer—and tracks the successful application of cancer research into practice.
  
• Cancer Information Service is the NCI's link to the public, interpreting and explaining research findings in a clear and understandable manner. This resource provides cancer information, including research findings, for patients and families, the public, and health professionals. • NCI Research on Childhood Cancers summarizes results from recent studies and describes current studies looking at the causes and most effective treatments for childhood cancers.
• Understanding Prognosis and Cancer Statistics discusses the concept of prognosis and the usefulness of statistical information to cancer patients and their loved ones.
• SEER Statistical Publications includes publications containing cancer statistics produced by the SEER program or through collaborative efforts between SEER and other organizations.
