508 and You - Member of the academic community

Many academic entities offer a wide array of expertise and opportunity for enhancing the implementation of Section 508. Those institutions involved in disability and rehabilitation research and development activities can, and should, consider becoming active members of the Accessibility Forum. The forum brings government representatives together with representatives from the information technology and assistive technology industries for the purpose of establishing voluntary consensus standards for product development. Academic institutions involved in researching various disability, rehabilitation, and technology; exploring innovative applications of technology; and developing interface solutions between IT and AT, can contribute tremendously to the Accessibility Forum's goals.
