Dear Colleague Letter: Update on Chemistry Research Instrumentation and Facilities (CRIF) Program

Date: January 7, 2009

Dear Colleague,

The Chemistry Research Instrumentation and Facilities (CRIF) Program provides support to research institutions for the establishment of regional or national instrumentation facilities, the purchase of departmental research instrumentation and the development of state-of-the-art equipment.

Due to the different nature of funding requests, the Division of Chemistry has separated the components of this infrastructure program into three stand-alone competitions:

  1. CRIF: Department Multi-User Instrumentation Program, or CRIF:MU (NSF 08-539)
  2. CRIF: Instrument Development Program, or CRIF:ID (NSF 04-534
  3. CRIF: Cyberinfrastructure and Research Facilities Program, or CRIF:CRF (NSF 08-504).

Based on many factors and considerations, the CRIF:CRF Program will no longer be offered.  Related cyberinfrastructure proposals may be suitable for submission to the NSF programs of Cyber-enabled Discovery and Innovation (CDI)
(NSF 08-604) and Sustainable Digital Data Preservation and Access Network Partners (DataNet) (NSF 07-601).

The CRIF:ID competition is being offered in FY 2009 with a proposal submission deadline of January 27, 2009.

Sincerely,

Dr. Luis Echegoyen, Director
Division of Chemistry
