PLAZA DEL PASADO PRESENTS

25th ANNUAL FIESTA OLD TOWN CINCO de MAYO

Saturday, May 3rd & Sunday, May 4th, 2008

Old Town, San Diego - For the past 25 years everyone has celebrated their favorite Mexican holiday in San Diego’s oldest community. To commemorate this 25 year milestone the Historic Old Town Community Foundation is bringing a fresh new design to this FREE two-day extravaganza. On Saturday, May 3rd from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday, May 4th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM prepare for the infusion of old traditions with new enriching ones to bring each participant a more enjoyable weekend.

With change comes a bold, bright emblem to bring a new look to this fiesta.

In order to immerse yourself in the Mexican culture one must experience the traditional flavors of Mexico and there is no better way to do this than through the lively foods of Old Town. This year rather than bringing in outside food vendors, the Foundation is utilizing its restaurants to bring that extra spice to its Mercado. As you stroll through this fiesta take part in the delicious food and drink specials offered along the way and find yourself a new favorite restaurant!

This year Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo will be showcasing the newest Latin sounds, traditional music and integrating fun, colorful dances on one of three stages. Follow the vibrant sounds of Latin Jazz coming from the Corona stage and shake your hips to the hottest Flamenco beats. If you are looking to one, two step with your sweetheart head over to the Plaza Stage and enjoy the melodies of traditional Mexican Mariachis. Want to learn a new dance or two? Then make your way over to the Children’s Stage to watch Ballet Folklorico groups located in San Diego County dance their hearts out.

This fiesta extravaganza is entertaining for the entire family and this year Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo is bringing back the highly popular Children’s Area! The community of Old Town is partnering with local museums and non-profit organizations to provide fun, educational and interactive activities for children of all ages. Gather around the stage to go on an adventure with a storyteller or stop by the face painters booth to get a new look! Take a ride on the historical Wells Fargo Stagecoach and experience San Diego’s oldest community while learning interesting facts about the past. With so many activities and performances to choose from, your kids will find plenty to do during this exciting weekend event!
