Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine: TVTM 89 - Sheri From The Vale, Part Deux

Sheri from The Vale is back for a second podcast this week, still in the podcave dazling Tim Goodman, Q.B. Joe Garofoli and Benny "Choco-Knobby'' Evangelista with her revealingly short shorty robe.

And the TV Talk Machine podcast has staked it's claim on yet another continent - Africa. Dave from South Africa wants to know about the TV series "Wonderland.'' In fact, two questions came in about that series, but will Tim have any answers?

Also, we hear what's developing with the "Arrested Development'' movie, what are the chances "Scrubs'' will stick around on ABC for more than one year and what's happened to the long-running Fox sketch comedy "MADtv.''

Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine: TVTM88 - Guest Question Girl, Rush Limbaugh and Richard Nixon

This week on the TV Talk Machine podcast, The Bastard Machine regular Sheri From The Vale guests as Question Girl, joining TV critic Tim Goodman, Question Boy Joe Garofoli and a chocolate-covered Benny "Manny'' Evangelista in the podcave.

Sheri helps Tim and Q.B. break down Sunday's Golden Globe awards show, although she also entices Joe to break out his Richard "Tricky Dick'' Nixon impression.

Questions come from Walter in Florida, Frank in Texas and Tom in the 408 about shows such as "The Beast.'' Also, Tim answers a question about what he thinks of Rush Limbaugh's criticism of him for saying "24'' is out of touch in the Barack Obama era.

Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine: TVTM87 - Will "Caprica'' launch?

It's the second TV Talk Machine podcast of 2009, a little late this week due to some technical problems Manny had to iron out. But it's worth the wait, because TV critic Tim Goodman has some actual news about shows like the planned "Battlestar Galactica'' spin off "Caprica.''

But of course, it wouldn't be a TVTM without more of Question Boy, who brings his Al Gore and his Spanish Bill Walton. Also, they hear from Janet in Galgary and Jacob in South Korea.

Plus Andrew from the U.K. e-mailed his audio question, along with photos of himself and his car (click the "Read more" link below if you don't see them).

Movies with Mick LaSalle: "Che'' is "torture;'' smoking in movies

Movie critic Mick LaSalle and Chronicle arts and entertainment editor Leba Hertz host an abbreviated podcast this week, with no visits to the mailbag.

However, that leaves more time for your phone calls, as Mick and Leba answer various questions, such as smoking in movies and how Mick deals with his exalted fame and importance when meeting people at cocktail parties.

The one movie reviewed this week is the Steven Soderbergh film, "Che," a 257 minute Valentine to the communist guerilla Che Guevara, which Mick calls naive, senseless and a form of torture. Plus, he doesn't like it much.

Movies with Mick LaSalle: "Revolutionary Road" best film of 2008

Mick LaSalle and Leba Hertz get the new year started by answering -- or trying to answer -- the old question: If you could have dinner with any three characters from movies, who would they be? Then it's on to a discussion of "Revolutionary Road," the Sam Mendes film, set in 1955, and starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Mick says it's the best film of 2008.

Then it's into the old mailbag for questions on actors who are too old for their roles, French movies, how to watch a movie critically, and Clark Gable in "Sporting Life."

Movies with Mick LaSalle: Top 10 Movies of the Year; "Valkyrie" isn't one of them

In his weekly podcast, movie critic Mick LaSalle wraps up the year with his list of Top 10 Movies for 2008.

One movie that's not on the list is the new movie "Valkyrie.'' Just the thought of Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg makes Mick laugh as he reviews the film.

Also, he and arts and entertainment editor Leba Hertz review "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'' with Brad Pitt and "The Wrestler'' with Mickey Rourke.

Movies with Mick LaSalle: No, no for "Yes Man;'' Will Smith's "Pounds'' good; Clint's latest "bizarre''

Movie critic Mick LaSalle and arts and entertainment editor Leba Hertz take calls from Yogi and Jordan (who is finally 18!) and then turn their attention to the week's big movies.

The holiday movie season is in full swing, with Mick reviewing Will Smith in "Seven Pounds" (good), Jim Carrey in "Yes Man" (no, man, no) and Clint Eastwood in "Gran Torino" (bizarre, but watchable).

Then it's time to go into the old mailbag to take a letter from various people with strong feelings about "Australia," and others who have things to say about foreign movies and Bill Maher's "Religulous."

Next week: Mick LaSalle's Top Ten of 2008!

Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine: TVTM 85 - Wrapping up the year

Tim Goodman, Question Boy Joe Garofoli and Manny wrap up the year with a TV Talk Machine Podcast that delivers topics ranging from what TV shows are improving to what wine goes good with pork butt.

Tim answers questions about whether "Fringe'' is improving enough to start watching again, or whether "Life'' itself is getting better. Maybe TV watchers should just throw everything "Under the Bus,'' Tim says.

Plus to celebrate the holidays, Tim and QB present a special episode of "Bars,'' along with a singing Walton rendition of "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.''

Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine: TVTM 84 - Back just in time for the holidays

Yes, we know, we've been gone for a while. But just in time for the holidays, Chronicle TV critic Tim Goodman and Question Boy Joe Garofoli and Manny the Knobmaster have come back with more French Walton. Not to mention a French Canadian Walton, a Happy Birthday Walton and a Santa Claus Walton. Even a real Walton sighting.

Of course, Tim fields some questions about what's up with "Big Love,'' "Peep Show,'' how "The West Wing'' foretold the future and how George Clooney was in the ER before "ER.''
