Inslee reaction to ruling on vehicle emissions

2 April 2007

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.), a member of the newly created House global warming panel, released the following statement on a landmark decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court today in the case of Massachusetts v. EPA. In a 5-4 ruling, the court said that the Bush Administration must consider regulating carbon-dioxide emissions from new cars and trucks.

"I hope this victory does for the environment what Brown v. Board of Education has done for civil rights. If it has similar reach and impact, it could ignite a clean-energy revolution."
