Stimulus package moves ahead
January 29 –
"They loaded this thing up to a very unacceptable level,” Rep. Zach Wamp said of Democrats. "If it was really creating jobs in the next months, that would be one thing. But the vast majority of it doesn't.The massive package of federal spending and tax cuts that congressional Democrats are pushing to get the economy back on track passed a critical test when a divided U.S. House approved the plan.

Wamp speaks at ETEC

January 16 – U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp made an appearance in Oak Ridge and he touched all the bases in a talk before an overflow crowd at the East Tennessee Economic Council. He touched on the disaster at TVA's Kingston steam plant and addressed the "very confusing" budget situation in Washington. “It will be almost impossible for people to grasp all the intricacies of federal programs in three different paths at the same time,” Wamp said.

Wamp ranking Republican on 'MilCon-VA'
January 8 – The House Republican Steering Committee has approved Rep. Zach Wamp to continue the senior role on military and veterans affairs. "Being the top Republican on this panel gives me the opportunity to ensure that the promises made to our veterans are being kept and that the quality of life for those serving is as good as possible," Wamp said.

Tennessee delegation cheers ORNL's Jaguar
January 8 – Rep. Zach Wamp praised ORNL for completing the acceptance testing on the Cray XT5 Jaguar supercomputer months ahead of schedule. Wamp said, "The level of science that this computer will deliver could have profound long-term benefits for American competitiveness. With the Jaguar upgrades, Tennessee is now the center for world computing."
