Michael Moore’s movie, Sicko, reminds me of the old saying “even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then.” Health care is in a crisis. Health insurance and pharmaceutical companies are not serving the public interest on pricing and affordability.
Health care is being rationed and we must pursue a Patient Bill of Rights, which I supported in the House of Representatives 10 years ago. However, turning over our entire health care system to the government is not the answer. That will create more rationing and delays.
The experiences of Canada and Great Britain have demonstrated the problems with national healthcare. We must keep health care dollars in the delivery system and not allow more and more health care spending to go to the insurance and pharmaceutical executives at the expense of patients.
