Taxpayer dollars should not be used to promote Planned Parenthood’s amoral agenda through its website takecaredownthere.org. This website, featuring sexually explicit videos, misleads our youth into thinking that they can "protect" themselves from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. The best message we can send to Americans, young and old, is that abstinence is the only sure prevention.

Planned Parenthood receives part of its funding annually through Title X of the Public Health Service Act, which began as pre-pregnancy family planning assistance for low-income families. In the last 38 years, it has expanded to provide free contraception to teenagers from families of all income levels, often without the consent or knowledge of their parents. Title X funds have also become an annual subsidy for organizations that promote, perform, and lobby for abortions.

The website promotes an agenda that family groups call a full-scale assault on morality. I cosponsored the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act to prohibit federal funds from being distributed to groups like Planned Parenthood that undermine the role of parents in this country. I will continue to consistently vote for life and abstinence education.
