The United States’ responsibility as leader of the free world is to stand firm in our strong belief that freedom is for all. In his second inaugural address, President Bush said “the survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands.” Georgia has every right to exist as an independent nation.
President Bush has drawn a firm line with Russia, calling for the immediate removal of its troops from Georgian territory. Humanitarian aid is also on its way to the region to help those devastated by the recent battles. While foreign policy is a delicate balancing act, our nation must be strong and resolute in our support for Georgia.
