Banning Explicit Material on Military Bases

June 3, 2008

Pornographic material does not belong on our military bases.   The Military Honor and Decency Act of 1996 prohibited the sale or rental of explicit material.  The Resale Activities Board of Review was established to decide if material sold on bases is sexually explicit.  Unfortunately, obscene material is still available on some bases.

I have signed on as a co-sponsor to the Military Honor and Decency Act of 2008. This legislation will improve the original law by requiring the Resale Board of Review to meet more frequently and strengthen the guidelines used for deciding which material should be prohibited. This is a common sense step we must take to support our troops and their families.
