Advances in medical technology have greatly improved the detection, prevention and treatment of diseases, leading to improved quality of our life for millions of people.
We must make sure that all health care providers are well qualified for the work they perform. That is why I have cosponsored the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence (CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Act, H.R. 583. This bill would require medical imaging and radiation therapy technicians to meet federal education standards in order to participate in federal health programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and other programs administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
We need to maintain quality standards within our health care system and look for ways to reign in costs. |
