Families across America are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table, while many are making millions simply speculating on the price of oil. We must do all we can to bring down the price of a gallon of gas.

The speculation legislation offered by the Democrats is not a cure for the problem, but I still supported it as part of an "all of the above" approach. Releasing supplies from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is another step we can take to encourage new supplies and help bring down the price at the pump. This will not have a great and lasting impact, but again, as part of an "all of the above" strategy, it will help.

Now more than ever, Members of Congress must work together instead of playing politics with our nation’s energy policy. I’ve voted for every bill, Republican or Democratic, that offers real solutions to our nation’s energy crisis and will continue to pursue an "all of the above" strategy that will move us towards energy independence.
