Americans have the right to keep and bear arms. The Constitution is clear about this. Gun control does not work and I strongly support the Supreme Courts decision to overturn the District of Columbia’s gun ban. For years, the bad guys in Washington had guns while the law abiding citizens did not. Violent crime in our nation’s capitol soared under the gun ban, proving that we don’t need gun control we need crime control.

Supreme Court Justice, Anthony Scalia said this when delivering the high court’s opinion:

Under any of the standards of scrutiny that we have applied to enumerated constitutional rights…Few laws in the history of our Nation have come close to the severe restriction of the District’s handgun ban…we hold that the District’s ban on handgun possession in the home violates the Second Amendment, as does its prohibition against rendering any lawful firearm in the home operable for the purpose of immediate self-defense.

We cannot allow liberal ideologies to erode our fundamental freedoms. I will continue supporting legislation that protects your Second Amendment rights.
