Spratt Statement on the Indictment of Lewis Libby | ||
WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) issued the following statement on the criminal indictment of Vice President Cheney’s Chief of Staff, Lewis Libby. “Lewis Libby is entitled to a presumption of innocence, but the charges against him are serious, and the prosecutor seems to have a tightly wound case. “His indictment still leaves more questions unanswered than answered, and in particular, what role did White House staff play in uncovering a CIA agent? “This has serious implications for our national security; and whether chargeable under the law or not, the facts need to be clearly resolved.” # # #
