caBIG™ - related position in the United Kingdom

Colleagues: you may have heard that the U.K.'s National Cancer Research Institute is committed to collaborating with caBIG™ and building on caBIG™ infrastructure and tools. They have an opening for a caBIG™ liaison -- see ad below:

NCRI Informatics Coordination Unit

  • Scientific Analyst (caBIG™)
  • Salary to £37.5K, depending on experience
  • Based in London, UK

The United Kingdom's NCRI (National Cancer Research Institute) has an initiative whose mission is to maximise the impact of cancer research in the UK through the use of informatics. To achieve this we also need to work closely with international organisations with similar aims. You can read more about our work at www.cancerinformatics.org.uk. For information about NCRI, visit www.ncri.org.uk.

We are now looking to recruit a new position into our Informatics Coordination Unit based in London. The post is initially funded for up to 3 years, but with the possibility of extension. Your role would focus on the coordination of UK cancer informatics developments with caBIG™ (Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid) as developed under the leadership of the United States NCICB (National Cancer Institute's Center for Bioinformatics).

We are looking for an individual who has obtained a degree in a life sciences or information based discipline and is already familiar with caBIG™. You will also need to have had practical post degree experience working with generating, organising or analysing life sciences based research data. In return we offer the opportunity to shape the future of cancer informatics in the UK by maximising the value of our existing relationship with caBIG™.

For initial general queries and a copy of the job description, please contact Mary Jo Deering at NCICB, deeringm@mail.nih.gov.

For specific questions about the application process, terms, and conditions in the UK, please contact Lisa Redhead, below. PLEASE NOTE THAT LONDON IS 5 HOURS AHEAD OF THE U.S. EASTERN STANDARD TIME.
