The Queens Vanguard Center (QVC), one of seven National Children’s Study Vanguard locations in the United States, was established in 2005 and leads the implementation of the Study in the Borough of Queens. The QVC combines the expertise and leadership of research organizations throughout New York and New Jersey. Together, with its community partners, the QVC will have research sites serving National Children’s Study participants throughout Queens.
Queens has a rich cultural history, which is reflected in the individuals who live here. Today, nearly half of its population is foreign-born, making it one of the most diverse areas in the United States. Queens was chosen as one of the first locations for the National Children’s Study because of its location, the people who live here, and the number of children born here each year. Including Queens in the National Children’s Study will ensure that the Study represents all of America’s children.
