Description: |
Phenotype not fully penetrant on mixed background. Surviving E2F3 null adults die from dilated cardiomyopathy (similar to the human disease) and are smaller than littermates. Embryos dying in utero have defects in heart development. On a pure background all E2F3 null embryos die in utero. Mouse embryo fibroblasts lacking E2F3 have defects in entry into the cell cycle and hence proliferation. Proliferation defects in the embryo are also apparent. E2F3 is a key regulator of proliferation and loss of E2F3 suppresses tumorigenesis in mice heterozygous for a mutation in the tumor suppressor gene pRb. |
