Strain Description: Mutant human PLAP (ALPP) gene with 7Gs inserted downstream of a 4 G run resulting in a frameshift that yields a non-functional PLAP gene product. The transgenic mouse reports frameshift mutations by reverting the PLAP transgene to wildtype. Histological assay of heat stable alkaline phosphatase activity detects frameshift mutations in all tissues of the animal. Useful for detecting mutation distribution resulting from genetic defects and environmental exposure to mutagens.
