Strain Description: This strain carries the tetracycline reverse transcriptional activator (rtTA) under the control of the tyrosinase promoter/enhancer (Tyr). The rtTA binds to tetracycline operator elements (TetO) in the presence of doxycycline, causing transcriptional activation of genes downstream of TetO. In normal use this strain would be mated with a transgenic strain carrying a transgene under the control of TetO.
