Strain
Description: |
Mice homozygous for the Rb1tm1Tyj targeted mutation die in utero, apparently from a failure to efficiently produce erythrocytes in the liver. Heterozygous mice develop intermediate lobe pituitary tumors beginning at 8 months of age; C cell tumors of the thyroid are also common in this strain. Retinal tumors, which develop in RB(+/-) humans, have not been observed in this strain. |
