Postdoctoral Fellowship (Foreign Visiting Fellow) - Mathematics Apply For This Opportunity

LOCATION AND BENEFITS
Through the NIH Visiting Program, the National Cancer Institute provides postdoctoral research training opportunities for foreign scientists (Visiting Fellows). Visiting Fellows receive awards for research training. An award to the Visiting Program must be requested by a senior scientist in one of NCI's intramural laboratories and is offered based on the candidate's qualifications and the research needs of the host laboratory. The NCI laboratory senior scientist serves as the participant's sponsor and supervisor during the period of the award. The National Cancer Institute employs 900 to 1000 domestic and foreign postdoctoral fellows in over 400 laboratories and program areas annually. NCI facilities are located in Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Frederick Maryland, and are the best funded and equipped research laboratories in the United States. As a member institute of the National Institutes of Health, the NCI offers an environment for postdoctoral fellows to interact with scientists from a wide range of medical/life science disciplines, attend lectures given by international renowned scientists, and participate in meetings sponsored by national scientific associations and societies. Visiting Fellows receive a monthly stipend during the award period to cover living expenses. The stipend level is determined by the number of years of relevant postdoctoral research experience. Health insurance is provided and optional family insurance coverage is available.

POSTDOCTORAL EXPERIENCE AT NCI
The postdoctoral fellowship experience at the NCI can serve as a first postdoctoral training assignment, or offer more experienced postdoctoral scientists an opportunity to further their training in more advanced methods, to acquire new research capabilities, to make changes in the direction of their research, or to receive training in fundamental sciences and clinical disciplines for the purpose of enhancing the transfer of biotechnology to cancer clinical programs. Program duration is normally 2 to 5 years. Visiting Fellows must possess a Ph.D. or M.D., and not have more than 5 years of postdoctoral experience at the start of the fellowship period. U.S. authorization (nonimmigrant visa F-1 or J-1) for education training within the United States is required.
