Maryville Native Working for Graves in Washington

Liberty, MO – Brittney Loch, a 2004 graduate of Maryville R-II High School, has joined the staff of U.S. Congressman Sam Graves in Washington D.C. Loch handles many duties in the Congressman’s office including keeping the Congressman on schedule in Washington. She first became interested in politics when attending a National Young Leaders Conference in Washington when in High School.

“These conferences sparked my interest,” said Loch. “I wanted to be able to help people and have an impact on my community. Working for my hometown Congressman was a great way to do that.”

Loch is no stranger to politics and Washington. Her Sophomore year of college she interned for Congressman Graves in Washington. She also worked for the Congressman’s 2008 re-election campaign as the Events Coordinator. Still Loch says there are big differences between Capitol Hill and Maryville.

“The biggest difference between Maryville and D.C. is the pace,” said Loch. “Everything in DC is so fast-moving from the traffic, to riding the metro, to all of the people walking down the street. At times it’s exhausting.”

Loch says that her favorite place in Washington is one she gets to visit every day.

“The Capitol is probably my favorite place to go,” said Loch. “It is beautiful and so many great historical moments occurred in the building. Walking up to it everyday to enter work reminds me why I love my job.”

Loch does not rule out a future run for political office, but for now she is excited to go to a job that she loves and work for Sam Graves.

“I am lucky to work for Congressman Graves who truly understands his constituents and works hard to represent Northwest Missouri,” said Loch. “It is exciting working to get better government for my community and neighbors.”

Loch is a 2008 graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She is the daughter of Bill and Jessica Loch of Maryville.
