Straight Talk With Sam
Getting our Economy Back on Track

Congress has spent over a trillion dollars and has not even come close to solving the problems that are plaguing our economy. That is because Congress has its priorities backwards. They think they can spend your money better than you can. I don’t agree, I think we need to give Missouri families affected by the bad economy more of their own money to spend.

After ignoring the problems with Fannie Mae and spending over a trillion dollars to bailout Wall Street, Nancy Pelosi wants to ask you for $683 billion more. By failing to make middle class tax relief permanent we are facing a tax increase that will cost the average Missouri family $2,885. Nothing will damage our economy worse than raising taxes at a time when our economy is slowing.

The best way to help Main Street is to let our families and small businesses keep more of what they earn. As the bailout proved, people spend their money better than any Washington bureaucrat ever can. By allowing Missourians to keep more of their own money they can spend it on their priorities and needs. Small businesses can invest in new equipment and create new jobs.

The strength of our economy is not on Wall Street. It is found on main streets throughout Missouri. Making middle class tax relief permanent will put money back in the pockets of Missouri’s families and small businesses. After all, they are the people who are going to put our economy back on the right track.
