Time to End Partisan Games in Washington |
With energy prices going through the roof and our economy struggling, Missourians want solutions not more partisan games. Missourians don't care if it is a Republican solution or a Democratic solution, they only care if it will make it cheaper to fill up the gas tank, easier to make ends meet, and improves the future for their children. Republicans and Democrats can both agree that we need to address our energy crisis. After all, filling up the gas tank is as expensive for Republicans as it is for Democrats. Missourians want commonsense solutions to our energy crisis and they are tired of the partisan rhetoric and Washington's inaction. Above all, they want us to pursue all options to bring down the cost of energy. But time after time, commonsense legislation to address our energy crisis gets tied up in political games. While gas prices remain high, procedural tricks and partisan games are preventing Congress from passing legislation to open up new American drilling and get tough on speculators who manipulate oil prices. When we work together we can get things done. I am on the Agriculture Committee which is the most bi-partisan committee in Congress. On that committee the focus is on helping America's farmers and rancher, not scoring political points. We need the same kind of bipartisan commitment to doing everything we can to bring down the cost of energy. Missouri's families and small businesses are counting on it. |
