Straight Talk With Sam
Small Businesses Forgotten By Washington

With small businesses creating 7 out of 10 jobs in America, you would think that Washington would be working to make it easier for them to expand and create jobs. These days, Washington politicians only seem to pay attention to small businesses when they are looking for someone new to tax.

Washington is putting the squeeze on small businesses, costing American jobs, and placing a strain on family budgets. Every extra dollar that is sent to the federal government is one less dollar that can be spent growing a business or hiring a new employee. But Nancy Pelosi and House Leadership would rather raise your taxes than make it easier for small businesses to compete and to prove it they passed a budget containing $683 billion dollars in tax increases.

But it is more than just taxes that are hurting our small businesses. It is the regulation and red tape. Instead of concentrating on growing their businesses, our small business owners are forced to jump through government hoops and navigate the maze of federal regulations. Americans already have to work 113 days just to pay their tax bill, with all the excessive regulations our small business owners are spending countless more hours to comply with Washington’s mandates. In fact, federal regulation is costing our economy an estimated $1.1 trillion a year.

Entrepreneurship used to be a part of the American dream. Today Washington just treats it as something to tax. To get our economy back on track government needs to set the table to allow our small businesses to succeed.
