 Partners in the North Carolina Study Center

A team of researchers and survey operations experts from four North Carolina institutions are involved in the North Carolina Study Center. This team is working together to plan and implement the Study in multiple locations. Our team includes social scientists, epidemiologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, other public health researchers, and survey operations experts working together to engage the communities, perform the data collection, and analyze the data.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC)
The North Carolina Study Center is based at UNC in Chapel Hill, centrally located in North Carolina. UNC is the oldest public institution of higher education in the U.S. The university’s mission is to provide excellence in teaching, research, and service, and the National Children’s Study touches all areas of this mission. Administration of the Study takes place at the Carolina Population Center (CPC). Resources of the UNC campus are available to CPC and the Study.

Duke University
Duke University is a partner with UNC for the National Children’s Study, and Duke’s involvement in the Study is based in the Duke Clinical Research Institute, a multidisciplinary group of faculty and staff within the Duke University Medical Center.

Battelle Memorial Institute
Battelle Memorial Institute is a partner with UNC and is taking the lead on the majority of the data collection activities. Battelle’s Durham office, part of the Health and Life Sciences Global Business, involves staff dedicated to survey operations.

McMillan & Moss Research, Inc., is a partner with UNC for several of the Study locations in North Carolina. McMillan & Moss is a small woman-owned business in central North Carolina engaged in demographic analysis and database development.
