Abstract: The Annual Conference of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) provides an opportunity for those interested in the development and application of mass spectrometry to present and learn about new research and ideas. This year the Conference was held in Denver, Colorado, from May 31 to June 5, with an attendance of about 6,600. The Conference was host to special topics short courses, workshops, interest group meetings, and manufacturers' forums, as well as a carefully prepared scientific program composed of nearly 2,500 posters and more than 300 oral presentations. Abstracts from these presentations will become part of the Conference's Proceedings, which will be sent to those attending the Conference and those who are members of the ASMS.

Selected topics of this Conference will be re-visited, including: imaging mass spectrometry (IMS); identification of microorganisms by mass spectrometry; and sensitivity enhancement in electrospray ionization.
