Abstract: Nature continues to be a major source of novel drug leads. The discovery and development of these leads generally requires multidisciplinary, international collaboration, and the formulation and implementation of policies for fair and equitable collaboration and benefit-sharing with a variety of source countries, many of which are developing. The leading role played by the NCI and the NIH in this area of research will be highlighted.
