MS Service Specialist - Maryland

This position reports to the Service Manager at the Regional Office in Maryland. The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of service related support functions including, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and installation of LCMS GCMS Products. The essential function of this position is the repair, maintenance, and installation of those products sold.

Responsibilities. This position's primary focus is to provide quality, efficient service to our customers and to support the other Service, Technical Support, and Sales & Marketing staff in the performance of the same. Will work directly for the Regional Service Manager and will work in conjunction with the Management as needed. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for: the repair, maintenance, and installation of those products sold by its representatives; provide technical service training to customers, service and technical support personnel; accurately document and report all repairs and product failures and when applicable providing design change and improvement recommendations; assist in the development of preventative maintenance procedures for LCMS GCMS products as required; maintain and control repair parts inventories within the position's assigned region in accordance with the administrative policies as defined by the Service Center in Maryland; provide customers and other personnel with the necessary technical support (phone, FAX, E-Mail etc.) and documentation required to affect instrument repairs, maintenance, and installations; provide phone support to include after hours (night and weekend) technical assistance to customers anywhere within the market area; repair instruments returned to the Regional Service Center in a timely manner and provide support to less experienced service personnel in performance of the same; travel as required to provide service support to customers and other personnel.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Requirements. A BS degree in Chemistry or a closely related field preferred and at least three years of field exposure supporting MS instruments, or the equivalent experience. Incumbent must be proficient at effectively troubleshooting and resolving instrument problems, performing installations, and providing, when necessary, customer and staff training. Incumbent must also be capable of successfully running standard samples and be able to resolve basic applications related customer problems.

Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center

Postdoctoral Position - Torrance, CA

This position is within the Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Facility at Harbor-UCLA and involves quantitative studies of metabolomics and proteomics using stable isotope labeling in support of ongoing program projects of the UCLA Center of Excellence for Pancreatic Disease. (1P01 AT003960-01A1 UCLA Center for Excellence in Pancreatic Diseases). The applicant must have strong expertise in protein separation by 1 & 2 D gel electrophoresis, handling of MALDI-TOF, LCQ, LC/MS/MS and peptide microsequencing and protein identification through peptides. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required as well as being able to solve problem independently.

SAIC-Frederick, Inc., National Cancer Institute-Frederick Cancer Research and Development Center

Postdoctoral Position - Frederick, MD

A position is available at SAIC-Frederick for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist focusing on the application of proteomics to the elucidation of cancer drug mechanism of action. This position exists within the Drug Mechanism Group (DMG) of the Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP) located at Ft. Detrick Maryland.

Primary responsibilities include design and execution of quantitative proteomic strategies (2D-PAGE and SILAC) to identify pathways and proteins modulated by treatment with novel cancer agents. Candidates with experience in the operation and maintenance of LCQ/LTQ mass spectrometers will receive preference. The successful candidate will be expected to make biological inferences from generated data and to validate results using classical cellular and molecular validation techniques. An ability to make intellectual contributions towards the overall direction of projects is essential. Candidates with a PhD or MD with publications in proteomics, drug discovery or cancer biology are encouraged to apply. Applicants must speak fluent English to be considered.
