Getting Access to Programming

To receive MBone audio and video multicasts, special software must be installed on your desktop computer.

Download software for your OS:

• Cisco IP/TV for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
• MacTV for Macintosh
  (You must have Quicktime installed before using MacTV. See Apple.com for more information.)
• Unix/Linux

NOTE: Typical IP Multicast audio and video streams use the following data rates:

Audio (compressed) : 32kbps, 13kbps, or 4kbps
Video (using h261) : under 128kbps for 2 to 10 frames per second

With IP packet headers, the typical audio and video data stream will occupy 150 - 250 kbps. This data rate is for one stream consisting of both audio and video and is constant regardless of the number of recipients.
