The Controlled-Access Data tier contains demographic, clinical, and molecular data that, while stripped of direct patient identifiers, are individually unique. This tier requires user certification for data access.

Access to this data tier is available to researchers who:

  1. Agree to restrict their use of the information to biomedical research purposes only,
  2. Agree with the statements within TCGA Data Use Certification (DUC),
  3. Have their institutions also certifiably agree to the statements within TCGA DUC, and
  4. Complete the Data Access Request (DAR) form and receive approval from the Data Access Committee to be a TCGA data user.
