Screening Guidelines - careful screening can mean early detection of potentially serious manifestations. Testing for at-risk individuals may include physical exams, blood tests and scans. The frequency and nature of tests performed depends on the age, family history and medical history of the patient.

Treatment - although VHL cannot be "cured," proactive treatment can prevent the disease from progressing.

Genetic Counseling - VHL is a genetic condition, caused by an alteration (or mutation) in the VHL gene. Most, but not all, people who have VHL inherited the mutated gene from one of their parents.

VHL Specialists - M. D. Anderson is a world leader in cutting-edge patient care. We have experts in the key specialties needed to care for patients and families living with VHL.
